Standing On The Edge Of A Glass Precipice
We have already covered online gender habitudes in the previous post (Can Women Have It All) and the fact that the 'glass ceiling' has finally cracked, as women strive to overcome the obstacles standing in their way of their success, but there is a new evil amidst, and those women who have slain the beast, find that its nature has simply changed, and women find themselves standing on the edge of a 'glass precipice'.
Two eminent British psychologists decided to conduct research after reading an article that highlighted the plight of renown industries in which women were holding the top jobs. These businesses were failing and it appeared that this was due to the fact that women were at the helm at the time. Having conducted this intricate study, it became apparent that these specific companies had appointed women to these senior posts at a time when the company was weak or failing. It then went on to dig deeper and specific industries were pinpointed. It is apparent that women were appointed to the board within city companies when the share price was low, female barristers were asked to fight cases that they were unlikely to win and female parliamentary candidates were placed in constituencies where the opposition had a strong holding.
Are women being handed a poison chalice, or is it applicable to say that women were appointed to these positions because the companies were failing and they, of the female gender, would be likely to overcome and turn the business around. No, because the study identified that women were being blamed for these failures, despite prevailing prior to their promotion.
Women will continue their struggle to overcome, but until they do, they must be on an equal footing with men. It is their duty to the gender to push the boundaries, find new strategies and prove their worth.
Parity Through Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing is fast becoming the most popular online business initiative and affiliates are paid billions of dollars to deliver customers to the products of their choice. Internet marketing is not a new concept, however, affiliate marketing is relatively new, and is growing at a phenomenal rate. The internet blurs gender identification, so women and men are able to play on a even footing to build a successful online business. However, men are more likely to take advantage of joining an affiliate program to increase their chances of success, thus creating a divide. If women are to equal their male counterparts, they should do so making use of the technologies and resources being utilized by them to increase their own sales potential, in other words, think like a man.
Building an online business is one way that women can still compete and many professional women have taken the opportunity to build successful online businesses. Joining a reputable program will enhance the chances of success, as women already face gender-based stereotyping and face many challenges trying to balance their careers and family life. Joining an affiliate marketing training program like the one offered by Wealthy Affiliate University is an ideal way to learn a new skill and build a successful internet marketing business. There still remains an invisible barrier for women, for the glass ceiling is very much still in situ. The trade-off should no longer be applicable when vying for success, and it does not need to be. If men are achieving their goals faster and easier, then women must examine this model and put at their disposal every available strategy to achieve equality. It is enough that women have had to put personal goals on hold to achieve their career success, now they can have it all, or can they?
